Ode The ears of corn belong to Ceres, to the woodland gods the forests, to Chloris the new grass, to Phoebus the green laurel, to Minerva the olive tree, and the fine fir to Cybele; to the Zephyrs the sweet sounds, to Pomona the sweet fruits; the waters are entrusted to the Nymphs, as are the pretty flowers to Flora: but worry and weepend are dedicated to Cythera.
